ok,heres the plaid album review (basically its really good)..quite a
long review,detailed cos i think everyones been waitingit taken from a
68:57 promo copy...i assume its the same as the release version...16
tracks...
track 1...youve probably heard this one...
track2 ...weird noises into a kinda hip hop beat,some nice kinda twangy
lead guitar noises and some nice pitch bendy wines (like global comm.
tracks hav).....nice and laid back
track2+3 starts with another strange noise into synthy chords,then into
a drum n bass kinda pattern that gets mixed and chopped,changes timing i
think,orchestral stabs after about 3mins changes most of it but sill
stuttery drums and a springy kinda tune over top....
track4 ...kinda calypso with female vocals/chants over..very jolly with
steel drums..breaks into more layered female vocally stuff
track 5 ...starts stuttery echoey noises and percussion,a strange animal
noise..
track6 ...the nicollette track..sounds like the ussual nic track(i.e
strange but good)...sings "i was wrong" a lot
has distorted drums..kinda autechre..distorted beats and
noises/squelches with nicollette singing over the top..similar to some
of her album tracks.
track7 starts with drums and a synth line over it,goes into nice
chord/orchestral stuff.....then into a dark/moody distorted rythm..lots
of noisey clanging but sounds very good loud..slows down a
little,mellows out into someone blowing a pipe in a tunnel tune with big
church organs in the background....then into huge chords..
track8 bird noises and general animals into twittery lead lines over
splashing..another mid temp beat...breaks down into a slow,un quantised
sort of bass line...speeds up a little into a kinda drum n
bass(withought hi hats/clsd hihats) twittery beat..
track9...noises....nice mid tempo beat with deep/resonant bass line
..generally pretty cool....
track10 some female vocals (sort of eastern i suppose) ..into more
vocals (sound kinda mournfull/sad) with some violins in the
background..sounds really nice and different....into a sparse electro
beat with violins and vocals..very nice...
track 11...4/4 minimal beat ..with echoey clank(very dancefloor for
plaid)..and then starts to mutate with hi hats clicks that seem slightly
outa time..into nice pingy bass line/lead tune..goes more spacial with
chords fading in,getting more dense/textured with more percussion and
synths ....very nice...
track12...starts kinda pingy,plinky..into some very deep bass drums and
stuttery drums..into a pingy lead line..has some quite acidy bass
noises..quite short
track13 the bjork track....starts by singing"ill defend my child"..has
a kinda jungly/eastern vibey beat to it,carries on with bjork
singing..(cant wait for the new bjork album,done with lfo!!!) has some
nice piano breaks in it,has a more song /verse arrangement to it..bjork
does some good vocals...
track14...starts a little jungly/stuttery ..clanky pipe and into a
deep,funky bass line..quite short...
track15 ...starts with piano,what sounds like real double bass,and a
kinda slow hip hoppy/swing beat..some nice piano playin,..quite a
dramatic instrumental peice...
track16..more pianos start (loosing the electro feel towards the end of
the album) almost going a little clasical,then kicks into a autechrey
electro beat(using clanks etc as opposed to the ussual bass
drum/snare)...gets more stuttery and into more ussual plaid
territory..ends all nice with piano,and some faint vocals.....
overall..very nice....worth the wait......everyone should enjoy it...
